Esk Water Authority (trading as Esk Water) was established on 25 June 1997 as a Joint Authority under
Section 38 of the Local Government Act 1993, and commenced operation on 1 July 1997.Esk Water is a bulk water business servicing the Launceston/Tamar Valley region in northern Tasmania, and is owned by the Launceston City, George Town, Meander Valley and West Tamar Councils.
In particular Esk Water's main functions are to: -

Collect, conserve and treat bulk water; |

Sell bulk water both treated and untreated to member Councils, other bulk water customers and wayside users. |
The core business of Esk Water is the provision, operation and maintenance of bulk water supply including its treatment to meet reasonable customer expectations.
